About the Business Lawyer’s role
In order to service our existing client base (and take on new matters) we are seeking a lawyer who can relate to our vision for technical excellence, innovation and our client centric approach. Whilst we don’t style ourselves as a ‘new law firm’ clients have said that we are the most “technologically savvy law firm” that they have come across.
The role primarily involves drafting various different commercial contracts and (contract sets) for business acquisitions and sales, shareholder relationships, various terms of service and business contracts. You may also be involved in working with other lawyers in the firm on IP Litigation and shareholder oppression matters.
The successful candidate will work with our small team of lawyers and have the opportunity to specialise in a particular industry or area of law, depending on professional interest. Surprisingly you will actually get to talk with clients and develop your knowledge and expertise as part of your role.
The role will predominantly be client facing however it will depend on the professional interests of the successful candidate and may include:
- end to end management of client matters in conjunction with the one of the more senior lawyers;
- writing technical advices for clients on a range of matters;
- document automation and process development; and
- contributing towards the firm’s internal knowledge base.
Your skills and experience
You will have:
- experience in drafting a range of commercial contracts;
- a high level of attention to detail;
- understanding of document assembly systems and processes;
- a Queensland Practicing Certificate;
- the opportunity to be self-motivated and have the ability to use initiative to work at a high level with minimum supervision;
- a passion for learning and continuous personal skill development; and
- be highly computer literate with advanced skills in MS word – any programming or IT skills would be advantageous, but not strictly required.
